Soulflower | Martina Schenker

Switzerland

Working under the name 'Soulflower', Martina Schenker creates artworks that emerge from the interplay of colour, structure and perception. Her art reflects inner processes and explores emotions, sensory experiences and spatial relationships.

Themes such as connectedness, origin and the invisible in the visible characterise her expressive paintings, which are based on intuitive painting, spiritual symbolism and colour philosophy. Each piece is an expression of her inner world, reflecting change and drawing inspiration from her yoga practice and a natural philosophy of human beings.

Martina Schenker combines aesthetic dimensions with a spiritual path of knowledge that invites self-discovery. Using mixed media, acrylics and textured and natural materials, she creates works that combine abstract expressiveness with philosophical depth, telling silent stories. Her art encourages viewers to explore their own inner spaces.

Archaic Consciousness

'Archaic Consciousness' (Archaisches Bewusstsein) is a key reference point in Martina Schenker's oeuvre, representing the philosophical foundation of her artistic practice.
It condenses archaic, symbolic image forms into a timeless composition that addresses questions of origin, memory, and collective consciousness. Beyond narrative legibility, the work opens up a space for the resonance of pre-linguistic experience. Its minimal formal language creates a tension between inside and outside, and between individual perception and transgenerational memory. Here, painting is not understood as representation, but as a place of memory – a visual field in which consciousness can be experienced.
With its clear museum aspirations, 'Archaic Consciousness' deliberately positions itself outside the logic of economic exploitation. The work serves as a focal point within the artist's entire body of work, marking a threshold between intuitive image creation and philosophical contemplation. For Martina Schenker, painting is an inward-facing archaeological act.

Aqua Frequency

'Aqua Frequency' is a tranquil composition of flowing lines in vibrant shades of blue, interspersed with delicate organic shapes. The spherical shapes stretching across the canvas in vertical lines are reminiscent of cell structures, air bubbles, or points of light floating in a watery space.
The monochrome colour scheme of turquoise, ocean blue and transparent layers creates an atmosphere of depth and vastness, as if looking beneath the surface of an inner ocean. The shapes appear to move slowly, as if breathing, creating the impression that the image is following a living rhythm. Individual areas appear energetically charged, shimmering and slightly translucent. The vertical drop shapes act as transmitters and receivers of an invisible message, forming a poetic image of connection, memory and cosmic information.
This work is a visual translation of frequency and feeling: a 'water sound' that takes tangible form in the colours and shapes. It invites viewers to stand still, listen, and immerse themselves in an internal ocean of vibrations, intuition, and subtle information. 'Aqua Frequency' is an invitation to reconnect with the flow of life and one's own inner water being.

Leaf Whispers

'Leaf Whispers in the Cosmos' is a sensual, richly structured painting that enables viewers to experience the cosmos as a living sphere of growth, memory and communication. A multi-layered composition of leaf shapes, networks of lines and geometric fragments unfolds in luminous shades of magenta, purple, gold and soft blue.
The leaf shapes appear to carry energy, as if receiving and transmitting messages from another realm. They float above the composition like the universe's organic antennas. The lines, cracks and ridges structure the work like an invisible communication system or cosmic cartography. In the lower half of the painting, colour condenses into golden warmth; in the upper half, red expands as if the painting were attempting to mediate between matter and light, root and crown, earth and universe. This work pays homage to the quiet messages of nature and its connection to the greater whole. Here, the leaves symbolise fields of consciousness that resonate with one another.
'Leaf Whispers in the Cosmos' invites viewers to see themselves as part of a larger living system once again, where everything communicates with everything else.

Geometry of Inner Light

'Geometry of Inner Light' contrasts clear geometric shapes with bright areas of colour. It is both colourful and abstractly symbolic. At its centre is a yellow, circular form that resembles an inner sun or an energetic core – a symbol of inner radiance, creative power, and transformation.
The surrounding multicoloured fields seem to shift, open and overlap like a kaleidoscope, creating a visual interplay between order and dissolution. The composition is reminiscent of life's fragmentary nature: each section has its own texture and mood, ranging from an almost aggressive bright red to quiet, metallic shimmering surfaces. The black background gives the work depth and focus. It acts as a spiritual space in which the colourful facets of existence emerge. By using black as a contouring dividing line, the forms appear as luminous windows into another reality.
This work is an expression of an inner journey. It explores the dismantling and reconstruction of the self from emotional, spiritual, and intellectual perspectives. The geometric order symbolises humanity's attempt to impose structure and meaning on existence. The radiant centre acts as an origin archetype and can be compared to the sun in alchemy or the golden egg in mythical creation stories.
